Material basics
Pick the material by what the print needs to do.
We are not trying to turn this into a textbook. This is the practical store-floor version: what looks great, what holds up better, what belongs outdoors, and what needs a more careful printer setup.
PLA
Best starting point, easiest to print, and usually the biggest color selection.
Silk & Matte PLA
Great for dragons, gifts, signs, seasonal prints, and anything where the finish matters.
PETG
Tougher and a bit more flexible than PLA, with fewer colors but better utility.
ASA
Our outdoor-minded choice when UV and weather matter. Usually needs an enclosed printer.
ABS
Useful for tougher technical parts, but it needs more controlled printing than PLA.
TPU & Specialty
Flexible, fiber-filled, high-speed, and high-heat materials live here when the project calls for them.
Filament Types
Choose by what the print needs to feel like.
Most projects do not need a material encyclopedia. They need a good answer to a simple question: should this print look amazing, survive everyday use, bend, live outside, or handle a tougher technical job?
Best starting point
PLA, PLA+, Matte PLA, and Silk PLA
This is the friendly color wall: dragons, gifts, toys, signs, shelf decor, school projects, and most prints where detail and finish matter more than heat or heavy-duty strength.
- Choose it for: the widest colors, clean detail, fast turnaround, and pretty finishes.
- Watch for: hot cars, direct sun, thin parts under stress, and outdoor use.
Tougher everyday parts
PETG and High-Speed PETG
PETG is a good step up when the print needs to be less brittle, handle light utility use, or live around water without becoming a full technical-material project.
- Choose it for: brackets, organizers, tool helpers, clips, and useful shop parts.
- Watch for: glossy surfaces, stringing, and fewer wild color choices than PLA.
Outdoor minded
ASA and Glass Fiber ASA
ASA is the lane for weather and UV exposure. It is not the casual first choice, but it is worth considering when the print belongs outside.
- Choose it for: yard, patio, signage, fixture, and outdoor replacement-part jobs.
- Watch for: enclosure needs, ventilation, and more careful print setup.
Soft and bendy
TPU and High-Speed TPU
TPU is flexible. It is the right conversation when the print needs to bend, grip, cushion, or survive squishing instead of staying rigid.
- Choose it for: bumpers, grips, feet, seals, cosplay details, and soft mechanical helpers.
- Watch for: slower print settings and part designs that need room to flex.
Technical strength
ABS, ABS+, PC-ABS, and Carbon Fiber ABS
These are stronger shop materials for tougher parts, better heat handling, or stiffness. They are useful, but they ask more from the printer and the setup.
- Choose it for: functional pieces, fixtures, housings, and lightweight rigid parts.
- Watch for: enclosure requirements, fumes, abrasive blends, and tuned settings.
Specialty projects
Glass Fiber, Carbon Fiber, PC, and high-heat blends
Specialty filaments are for the jobs where the material property is the point. Bring us the use case and we will help decide whether the extra setup is actually worth it.
- Choose it for: stiffness, heat resistance, dimensional stability, or advanced utility.
- Watch for: dry storage, hardened nozzles, higher temperatures, and smaller color selection.
